Description
Atorvastatin calcium salt trihydrate is a specific inhibitor of HMGCR (HMG-CoA reductase). HMGCR is the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, an early step in cholesterol biosynthesis. Atorvastatin is used in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia.
